Study Guidelines For First Year MBBS

              Guidelines For First Year MBBS

                              Anatomy

Anatomy is one of the toughest, hard to memorize, time gaining and scary subject you all going to face in 1st year but there’s no need to worry. We are bit lucky to have very kind and co-operative anatomy department especially Sir. Habib –ur- Rehman. You people just have to follow their advice and give respect to them, they will be very helpful to you. As we all know “Slow and steady wins the race” now its time to apply this formula in anatomy,I found it very interesting thing ,attentively listen demonstrations and just read once the topic daily from K.L.M if you see atlas too its best thing  and make a habit of group discussion  , try to pass all sub-stages and stages will help you in internal assessment and final Viva, because Sir. Habib’s viva strongly based on your performance throughout the year. Embryology, G.A and histology are very easy try to prepare in class test otherwise in summer vacations.

General anatomy
by  Ghulam Ahmad (G.A) best book
                                    Or by Liaq Hussain Siddiqui
                                    or by Tassaduq Hussain Sheikh
Histology
Medical histology by Liaq Hussain  Siddiqui.
just try n pay attention in practical n read throught Laiq superficially.
Embryology
Clinical oriented embryology by  Keith L. Moore ( best for UHS exam)
Or bit easy Langmann is also good .
Gross anatomy :
clinical oriented anatomy by Keith L. Moore   (best for UHS exam)
                                                                 Or
              Clinical anatomy by Richard Snell
B.D churasia for osteology (bony features)
              Atlas by Netter

                                 Biochemistry

Biochemistry is a sort of dry subject, most of things seems suspended in imaginations. In 1st year when most of us keep on preparing sub-stages, stages of anatomy whole year and usually prepare biochem in last few months, at that time most of students find difficulty because the way 1st yr syllabus is arranged there’s no particular textbook that we can consult. That’s the major reason of supplies in biochemistry. Don’t worry most of you will clear it with ease. I will guide you on basis of my experience with biochem. First of all the sort of lectures we attend in college if u get some understanding than u are brilliant if don’t, no worries we are same. Its all self-study, prepare only those topics mentioned in UHS syllabus but I will suggest try to pass all class tests this will make a very good impact on your internal assessment and Viva’s especially in our college.
In 1st year biochemistry Medical biochemistry by Mushtaq Ahmad vol.1 and Lippincott are best pair, they all most cover most of topics.
