Seminar on “Dengue Fever and Its Prevention” organized by Nawaz Sharif Medical College,UOG

The Deptt. ov Community Medicine, Nawaz Sharif Medical College,UoG organized a seminar on “Dengue Fever and Itz Prevention” on Monday, June 15, 2015. Dis seminar waz presided over by the Principal Nawaz Sharif Medical College, Prov Doctor Sajjad Hussain, and the Dean, Faculty ov Sciences, Prov Doctor M.Faheem Malik waz the guest ov honour. Among the speakers were Assistant Provessors Medicine, Doctor Zameer Butt & Doctor Zahid Azam Chaudhary. Doctor Abid Nazir gave a presentation on Dengue Fever in the Start ov dis seminar. Doctor Sajjad said that diseases could b prevented through collective efforts ov all. He said that we should promote the cause ov the government for prevention ov dengue fever sincerely and effectively. He said that teachers and students were the best agents ov awareness in society. He waz ov the view that hygiene and sanitation were first steps 2 avoid diseases. He informed that medical intelligence and medical surveillance were taught as regular subjects in some countries ov the world for taking preventive measures 2 control diseases in particular regions. Doctor Faheem said that Allah Almighty had created cure along with disease; but the best cure is prevention. He said that dengue waz a fatal disease but we could control it through wide awakening ov society and adopting hygienic parameters. He said that cleanliness waz considered a basic element in Islam. He emphasized upon dis aspect ov religion for controlling dengue. Doctor Abid Nazir, performing as the modera2r ov dis seminar, gave a comprehensive presentation on dengue and itz prevention. He said that challenges introduce the nations 2 discover solutions ov different problems. He said that dengue waz an age old disease; it waz a special type ov fever. He suggested that capacity building ov community waz effective 2 fight against dengue. Doctor Zahid Azam gave presentation on “Prevention ov Dengue.” He said that dengue mosqui2 waz bred on clean stagnant water; we should prevent from gatherng water in the form ov pool in our houses. Doctor Zameer Butt shed light upon the clinical aspects ov Dengue fever in his presentation and said, “There iz a rising trend ov Dengue fever becoz ov climatic changes nd mass travelling. Dengue iz usualy a continuous fever. It harms our legs, joints and lumbar spine.” He mentioned some general symp2ms ov dengue fever.

An Awareness Walk waz also organized at the end ov dis seminar under the direction ov Doctor Sajjad Hussain, Doctor Faheem Malik and the Direc2r SSC Mr Muhaamd Yaqoob. A large No. ov students along with the faculty attended dis walk carrying placards, posterz and bannerz. The participants ov dis walk made the vow that they will spread information about dengue fever and itz preventive measures among the masses as their colective responsibility.
